Description
College Unbound is seeking highly motivated and experienced educators interested in working in higher education to assess student experiences and learning for college credit. The Assessment Specialists will be responsible for assessing student work in the Learning in Public (LIP) program, which provides students with opportunities to demonstrate their learning through various mediums in their own voice. The Assessment Specialists will work closely with Learning in Public faculty and staff members to evaluate student work and provide feedback to students on their progress. This work is paid per assessment.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
• Assess student work in the LIP program, including short, skill based portfolios and longer, deeper learning experience portfolios
• Provide detailed feedback to students on their work, including strengths and areas for improvement
• Collaborate with CU staff to ensure that assessment criteria are aligned with program goals and objectives
• Participate in meetings 1-2x a semester with the LIP team to norm assessments and generate ideas for program improvement

Necessary Skills:
• Master's degree in a related field
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work independently
• Attention to detail and ability to provide constructive feedback
• Familiarity with assessment practices and strategies
• Comfort with technology and ability to use online platforms for assessment and feedback

Recommended Skills:
• Experience in higher education or adult learning environments
• Familiarity with project-based learning and/or experiential education
• Experience with assessment and evaluation of student work
• Familiarity with learning management systems and other educational technologies
• Expertise in particular content area

Compensation:
• $20/short portfolio
• $35/long portfolio
• Training in liberatory, authentic assessment strategies
• Opportunity for growth towards Instructional Faculty or Senior Assessment Specialist
