Description
The full-time Director of Digital Pedagogy, will further College Unbound’s (CU’s) mission to reinvent higher education for underrepresented adult learners by developing and implementing infrastructure and practices for a CU’s growing online footprint. College Unbound’s online infrastructure of classes, personal learning plans, and communication tools supports and challenges students, faculty, and partners to collaborate and engage in their communities with impact. The Director of Digital Pedagogy will oversee the development, growth, and innovation of this online space.

The ideal candidate will be a thought leader in re-imagining life-wide learning that starts from and centers learners, bringing the language of learning outcomes and the academy to the learner rather than expecting learners to fit their real-world learning into predefined course objectives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Supports faculty in best practices of adult and online pedagogy through the development and management of fully online, hybrid, and HyFlex courses that provides sufficient scaffolds to a diverse part-time faculty composed of practicing academics, scholar practitioners, and community experts so that they can create rich and engaging learning experiences for working adult students
Provides just-in-time technical support, training, and development for faculty and student teaching and learning online
• Works as a thought partner with faculty to design courses that respond to a wide range of student learning needs and strengths
• Leads the college in identifying, piloting, assessing, and implementing tools and innovations in digital pedagogy that support CU’s unique cohort-based, project-centered curriculum (including an anticipated move to a new LMS and HyFlex course options)
Requirements
Successful candidates will be mission-driven, detail-oriented, collaborative, creative problem solvers who will thrive in the all-hands-on-deck ethos of a higher education start-up. Candidates must also be able to work independently, prioritize, organize, and multi-task; will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. The ideal candidate will also meet the following qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree; certifications in instructional design or related field.
• Five to eight years of direct experience designing, creating, editing, and launching digital instructional content in a higher education setting.
• Three to five years’ experience working on cross-functional teams and strategically with many constituencies within a university setting.
• Demonstrated ability to apply instructional design principles, learning theory, and educational technologies in the design and development of learning experiences.
• Experience working with digital content creation tools, other educational technology tools, and multiple learning management systems.
• Leadership abilities in training, mentoring, and coaching designers in course design, learning experience design, and faculty relationship building best practices.

Knowledge, skills, and capacities:
• Has a deep understanding of adult learning theory and practice, learning sciences, and instructional design
• Has demonstrated ability to coach and collaborate with faculty and students
• Is a skilled project manager who is detail oriented and well organized
• Has demonstrated leadership capabilities
• Is passionate about using technology and online tools to advance equity in higher education
