Reporting to the Vice President for Administration and Innovation, the Admission and New Student Transition Coordinator will have responsibility for facilitating the transition of new students to College Unbound and working collaboratively with recruitment and registrarial functions of the College. In addition, the Admission Coordinator will ensure that students are connected to appropriate resources, and work to identify and address any internal barriers that might affect the successful transition of new students into the College.

• Pull together profiles of prospective students for review by the Admissions Committee
• Review and assess student writing samples and register students for courses accordingly
• Provide direct support to students as they transition to the College and ensure that students are appropriately connected to relevant resources
• Work collaboratively with the Registrar to place admitted students in appropriate first semester courses
• Create communications and processes to facilitate the smooth transition of new students to their Lab Faculty
• Identify gaps in services or support to new students as they transition to the College, make recommendations to address those gaps, and work collaboratively with relevant staff to implement services or programs in support of new students.
• A Bachelor’s degree is required with previous experience related to admissions, advising, new student programs, or student services programs, preferably in a higher education setting. A master’s degree is preferred but not required.
• Direct experience providing support and/or advising to students from diverse backgrounds, preferably in a college setting.
• Understanding of the distinct needs of adult learners and the ability develop processes and practices to support their effective transition to CU
• Strong interpersonal, cultural fluency, and written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with staff across areas.
