Director or Coordinator, Learning in Public Program

Title
Director or Coordinator, Learning in Public Program
Location
Providence, RI
Description
The full-time Director/Coordinator, Learning in Public Program, will further College Unbound’s (CU’s) mission to reinvent higher education for underrepresented adult learners by developing and implementing prior learning assessment (PLA) and experiential learning programs, policies, and processes that recognize and credit learning and support students in naming, claiming, and leveraging learning that is not school-based.

The ideal candidate will be a thought leader in re-imagining life-wide learning that starts from and centers learners, bringing the language of learning outcomes and the academy to the learner rather than expecting learners to fit their real-world learning into predefined course objectives. Rather than preparing students to launch into some future world, the Director of this program will understand higher education as a vehicle for furthering the ability of students already fully engaged with the responsibilities, challenges, and opportunities of adult life to act in the world with impact.

Responsibilities include:
• Developing, maintaining, and improving the systems and supports CU’s prior learning assessment, competency, and experiential learning program.
• Collaborating across the college in advancing the college’s mission and vision.
• Recruiting, onboarding, and providing ongoing training and development for assessors
• Staying up-to-date on current prior learning assessment (PLA) research, regulations, and best practices.
• Advising students on their submissions.
• Managing the submission, review, feedback, and credit-posting processes.
• Collecting and managing data for the purpose of tracking and program review.
• Preparing an annual report for purposes of program review and improvement.
• Managing the Learning in Public (LIP) and Big 10 Leadership & Change Competencies Portfolio program including student and faculty support, systems and processes, assessment, and administration.
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Successful applicants will be mission-driven, detail-oriented, collaborative, creative problem solvers who will thrive in the all-hands-on-deck ethos of a higher education start-up.

• Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred
• Experience working with adult learners, learning outcomes, and assessment is preferred.
• Director or Coordinator title determined by prior experience.
