Black History is more than a month!

Mike is a member of our College Unbound lab faculty. He is also Director of Career and Alumni Services a position so fitting as he has been in training to do so most of his life. Mike is responsible for creating and managing all services connected to student career advancement and alumni engagement.

Prior to College Unbound Mike was Assistant Director of Diversity programs at Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU). There he assisted with research and implementation of best practices for promoting innovative ways to talk about inclusion on campus. Mike led and facilitated trainings on topics of diversity and inclusion for student leaders, faculty and staff. Mike started his academic career in higher education as an academic coach for College Unbound at Roger Williams University. There he created individual integrated learning plans for non-traditional adult learners, guiding their learning throughout the semester.

Mike has a list of well-rounded interests in serving his community. Among them is the work he has done with the Nonviolence Training department at the Institute for the Study and Practice of Nonviolence. He is certified to teach nonviolence training and has done so for high school students. While at SNHU he volunteered to be a member of the President’s Commission for LGBTQ+ Advocacy. He has also been a participant in Diversity Abroad and the National White Privilege conferences and a participant in a Maura Cullen Social Justice and Diversity Training. Mike Reaves experience and skill set certainly prove to be valuable in today’s Black Lives Matter and Asian Lives Matter movements as society works to bring justice and healing within our communities. It appears Mike has only scratched the surface for the work he was born to do. It is an honor to shine the spotlight on one of our own CU graduates.
